The Robert H. Smith School of Business established this M.B.A. fellowship in memory of Lieutenant Michael Scott Lamana and Lieutenant Commander Eric Allen Cranford, two part-time M.B.A. students who were killed at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.
Michael Scott "Scotty" Lamana of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, was a U.S. Navy lieutenant who worked at the Pentagon. He was 31 when he was killed. He joined the military after graduating from Louisiana State University in 1992.
Eric Allen Cranford of Drexel, North Carolina, was a U.S. Navy lieutenant who had worked under the Chief of Naval Operations in the Pentagon since April 1999. He was 32 when he was killed. Cranford was commissioned in 1992 at the University of North Carolina.
