Maryland Media Inc. is a nonprofit that owns and operates three independent student publications at the University of Maryland, including The Diamondback, Mitzpeh and The Terrapin Yearbook.The mission of MMI is to provide real-world experience for UMD students as they learn skills to pursue careers in journalism and mass media.
The scholarship is meant to provide a financial opportunity for UMD students to help them as they pursue their educational and career goals of learning and working in the media industry. In this offering, MMI hopes to reach a diverse applicant pool who will benefit from the scholarship. It is open to all those who contribute to the journalistic field, including reporters, editors, photographers,
graphic artists, website developers, data journalists, video and digital producers, digital strategy directors and other positions such as business, marketing and advertising that also support the journalism arena.
