Linda Zappasodi Safety Award

Linda Marie Zappasodi (January 28, 1950 – June 11, 2015) was the Director of Facility Operations in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry for 16 years. In this capacity, she oversaw facilities, operations, and safety for the department. During her tenure, Linda was the project manager for many renovations and facilities projects, including the construction and occupation of “Wing 3” of the Chemistry building. Linda was particularly attentive to issues of student, faculty, and staff training and safety and served as the department’s Safety Compliance Officer. She was known for her great attention to detail, and for her tireless efforts to realize improvements, all while maintaining the teaching and research activities of the department.

Linda’s legacy is continued through the Linda Zappasodi Safety Award. This award is bestowed annually on a student, staff or faculty member who has made a significant contribution to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry through increased awareness and improved practices for laboratory safety.
