Gloria Davidson Excellence in School Libraries Endowed Award

Gloria Davidson is a library and education leader whose career transformed the role of school librarians and the service of school libraries. She was awarded the Virginia Educational Media Association’s “Educator of the Year Award” for her leadership role in building one of the strongest library media collections in a Virginia public school and was also recognized by the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce with their award for “Excellence in Education.” To recognize and reward future school library leaders, she created the Gloria Davidson Excellence in School Libraries Award.

Gifts to this fund support the Davidson Award which recognizes outstanding work done by a student enrolled in the school library specialization of the Master of Library and Information Science (MLIS) degree program for his/her contributions to improving a school library, the services of that library, and/or impact on the student experience in that library.
