Dr. Edward L. Korn ‘73 and family established the Eda T. Bloom Memorial Endowed Scholarship in 2010 in memory of his late wife, Eda Terri Bloom (1945-2008). This scholarship annually supports undergraduate students in the College of Computer, Mathematical, and Natural Sciences (CMNS).
Eda Terri Bloom (1945-2008) was a talented medical research scientist and a giving mentor who pursued cancer research as a teenager after losing a dear friend to leukemia. Research was not an open field for women then; however, refusing to let this deter her, Bloom became a policy maker and principal investigator of her own lab at the Food and Drug Administration. Bloom highly valued public-supported universities and education for all. Korn established this scholarship in Bloom’s memory so that others like her may have the means to pursue their own paths.
