What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
This scholarship has enabled me to focus on my studies, extracurricular and professional experiences. As an out of state student who pays for a significant portion of her tuition on her own, this scholarship has alleviated a significant financial burden. Without this scholarship, I would have had to get a third job or try to add more hours to my already busy work schedules. However, this scholarship has allowed me to devote time to studying and participating in my extracurricular activities.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
I chose to attend the University of Maryland because it was the ideal culimnation of everything I wanted in a university. Not only is UMD renowned for it's strong academics, but its impressive school spirit, wide variety of extra-curricular activities, Division I sports teams, and beautiful campus are also a major draw. Additionally, as a Government and Politics major, UMD's proximity to D.C. was also ideal for internships and other professional experiences.
This place is so special to me because I have been afforded many opporunties here that I do not think I would have had anywhere else. Throughout my time here, I have danced on the Maryland Dance Team, interned on Capitol Hill, been a member of several amazing organizations (including the Student Government Association and Alpha Chi Omega), taken many classes by inspiring and passionate professors, and met lifelong friends.
My favorite part of being a Terp is that I am able to represent such an amazing university that I am truly proud to be a part of.

My favorite extracurricular activity during my time at Maryland has been dancing on the Maryland Dance Team. I have been dancing my whole life, so being able to continue this passion while cheering on the Terps at every home football and basketball game has been incredible. In addition to bringing me joy and many unforgettable memories, being on the dance team has also taught me a lot about working as a team, time management, responsibility and hard work.
