What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
Currently, I serve as the President of Serving Our Wounded Warriors. Serving Our Wounded Warriors is a club that I founded last school year for the purpose of making the stay for returning injured troops at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center more pleasant. My organization raises funds and obtains donations to serve lunch to the troops on the weekends when the cafeteria is closed and we visit them as they are recovering. My desire to help serve my community is a personal passion of mine.
In addition, I was the On-Site Coordinator for the LeaderShape Institute, a retreat to develop future leaders. I was in charge of planning all of the logistics for the six-day leadership retreat for 64 students at the University of Maryland. I am also the President of the LeaderShape at UMD club. This club’s purpose is to utilize the lessons learned at the retreat when returning to campus.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
I decided to attend the University of Maryland because of it's academic reputation, school spirit, and proximity to Washington, DC. The University of Maryland is special because all of the students are extremely proud to be a Terp. My favorite part of being a Terp is going to the basketball games and rooting for our team. The fans are so passionate and we have great school spirit.
