5 SCHOLARSHIPs AWARDED:
What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
As a student at UMD, I joined Sigma Alpha, the professional Agricultural Sorority on campus. I was elected Sigma Alpha Alumni and Alpha Gamma Rho Liason. I am also a member of Block and Bridle, an animal science club on campus. I love that I'm able to network with others in the College of Agriculture with students of similar interests.
What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
This scholarship means a lot to me. It allows me to reach my goals of pursuing a college degree and allows me to follow my dreams of pursuing a career in the field of agriculture. Agriculture has always been a passion of mine, and I feel here at Maryland I am able to expand my interests, network with others, and learn so much about the vast field. It is enabled me to be a part of a professional agriculture sorority and a member of Block and Bridle. These opportunities will allow me to go above and beyond the normal college experience and collaborate with others in the agriculture industry.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
I chose to attend the University of Maryland because of the academics, the atmosphere and the fact that I would be a part of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. I loved that I would be a part of a smaller college within the larger university and still have the resources of both. I knew it would make my experience here more personalized and I've yet to be wrong about that! My favorite part of being a Terp is being able to network and meet new people. You are exposed to a diverse group of students at Maryland and I know I will walk away from here with many many friends at the end of 4 years.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
I will make a positive difference in the world through the knowledge that I am gaining here at UMD. I am becoming an even stronger advocate for the field of agriculture and will make a positive difference through the students and peers I am reaching in my clubs and in my major.
What is your major, minor, class and graduation year?
My major is Nutritional Sciences. I am a student in the class of 2019.

My favorite extracurricular activity that I'm involved in is Sigma Alpha. Joining Sigma Alpha has proved to be one of the best decisions ever. I love that I'm connected with 33 other sisters who all share my interest and passion for agriculture. I am able to study, have fun with, hang out with and count on each of the girls as a true sister. I have gained my college best friend from this sorority. Some of my favorite memories from my freshman year include spending time with my best friend and my Big sister.
