What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
I try to stay involved within my department's community. I am currently Secretary of the American Meteorological Society for the Fall 2015-Spring 2016 year, and I have been elected as President for 2016-2017 year. I founded my own student organization, TERP Climate. Along with other students, we organized a student forum in December 2015. We are in the middle of planning a campus-wide forum for Earth Day on April 22, 2016.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
Through research I want to understand the Earth system, which is the first step to preparing for weather and climate impacts. There are so many questions about the atmosphere and oceans that need to be answered before addressing the environmental and socioeconomic responses to the phenomena.
