What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
I am currently the VP of Marketing for an on-campus club called Gift to Uplift. Gift to Uplift aims to uplift children who have life-altering medical conditions by writing and illustrating a personalized book for each child. The child is the hero of the book and it is written based off of each child's interests and desires. This organization and the role I play in it is important to me as it is such a unique way to create happiness. Gift to Uplift is currently in the process of becoming 501(c)3 certified and we hope to grow and expand to uplift more children in the future.

My favorite opportunities here at the University of Maryland were my study-abroad experiences. I participated in short-term study abroad programs to Japan and Australia & New Zealand. In Japan, I learned about disaster recovery in the wake of the 2011 earthquake, tsunami, and Fukushima nuclear disaster. I met with government officials and business owners and learned about the amazing resiliency and innovative spirit of the Japanese people. In Australia and New Zealand I participated in activities such as whitewater rafting, scuba diving, bungee jumping, and skydving. These activities pushed me out of my comfort zone and enabled me to grow as a person and learn a lot about myself. I also visited business such as Google Sydney and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia; these business visits taught me about the importance of global business.
