Dr. Margaret Ann Ross established the Mary A. Ross and Robert W. Ross Endowed Scholarship in March 2016 to support need- and merit-based scholarships for undergraduate students with a math or science major.
Margaret Ann Ross, a three-time graduate of the University of Maryland, and her children, Christopher Palmer Ross and John Robert Ross, have generously chosen to honor the memory of their husband and father, Robert W. Ross, and sister-in-law and aunt, Mary Ann Ross, through this endowed scholarship fund. Robert, a graduate of Purdue University, earned his B.S. (1961) and M.S. (1963) degrees in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in Space Sciences and Physics. He was a long-time employee of NASA-Goddard prior to his death in 2012. Mary Ann, also a Purdue University alumnus, earned her B.S. (1968), M.S. (1970) and Ph.D. (1974) degrees in Psychology with an emphasis in Statistics. Mary Ann was also a long-time employee at Purdue University. It is the family's intent to honor the legacy of Mary Ann and Robert while also assisting a future mathematician or scientist with his/her academic achievements.
