BSOS Advising Center Student Emergency Fund

The BSOS Advising Student Emergency Fund was initially established in honor of BSOS Advising Center Director Lola Hillman Byron on the occasion of her retirement from University of Maryland.  Lola HIllman Byron was a champion for students who worked tirelessly throughout her career to celebrate each student’s individual strengths while providing support and encouragement when students encountered challenges (of all kinds).  This fund continues to help students in need only because of the generous contributions of alumni, parents, friends, faculty, and staff of the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at University of Maryland.

The BSOS Advising Student Emergency Fund provides one-time, limited emergency financial support for BSOS students who experience unexpected financial hardship that may impede their academic progress toward a BSOS undergraduate degree.

Academic advisors may encourage students to apply for this fund. Questions regarding the application process may be directed to bsos-scholarships@umd.edu or call the BSOS Office of the Associate Dean at 301-405-1692.
