What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
Throughout this past year, I have been the Power Systems Team Lead for the UMD Hyperloop Pod Design team. This role has helped me learn so much about leadership, teamwork and project management. Working on this project and designing the power systems for a prototype Hyperloop pod has sparked my interest in electrical engineering and helped me realize how electrical engineers can shape the world around them.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
I chose to attend the University of Maryland because of its strong engineering and music programs. My favorite part about being here is that so many people around me aspire for greatness, and that really motivates me to try to change the world.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
I will help contribute to the development of the Hyperloop transportation system, making safe and efficient high speed transportation of people and goods a reality. Using my experience gained through projects and coursework at the University of Maryland, I seek to create a sustainable future for the planet.
What is your major, minor, class and graduation year?
I'm a junior studying computer engineering as well pursuing a music degree in trumpet performance. I will be graduating in December 2017.
