SCHOLAR RESPONSES:
What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
Early in the semester I was part of the engineers without borders but unfortunately I had to stop because of my heavy class load. I like the idea of applying our engineering knowledge now and helping people who really need help now. Next year I'm definetly going to join again and maybe I will even be able to travel and be a part of the team who builds the project.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
I'm going to major in bio engineering and from that I hope to be able to better people's lives. Whether I decide to go into prosthetics or maybe something about DNA mutation I want to do something that can have a positive impacts on people's lives. I have also thought about trying to go into medical school and trying become an ER doctor. This way I would have the opportunity to help people at very crucial moments. If I could become a doctor I think I could make a very positive difference in the world one person at a time.
What is your major, minor, class and graduation year?
I'm currentlya freshman majoring in chemical engineering. I hope to switch over to bio engineering next semester and I will graduate in 2019.
Tell us about your favorite class, extracurricular activity, academic opportunity, community involvement or another unique experience.
My favorite extracurricular activity was probably flag football. I liked it because it was a good way for me to destress and it didn't take much time, only one hour a week. I also liked it because I was able to get some exercise. My favorite thing though was meeting a lot of new friends that come from many different backgrounds and have different interests. |
