6 SCHOLARSHIPs AWARDED:
What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
I was fortunate enough to have been asked to teach a DCX Master Class on campus last semester.
What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
This scholarship has meant that there are people out there who believe in me and want me to succeed. These scholarships have made it so that I did not have to work four days a week anymore. I was able to focus more on my major and performance opportunities. I am in four performances this semester!!
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
I chose to attend UMD because of knew of some dance majors that graduated from here, and after talking with them and hearing their experiences-- I thought UMD would be the right fit for me. I really trust in the dance faculty that we have here. They are incredibly invested in helping their students succeed after graduation. They are also very experienced and educated.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
I hope to perform and teach dance when I graduate from UMD. I want to tour around the country (or in Europe) and teach dance to children... I want to inspire them to trust in themselves and want them to understand how important they are.
What is your major, minor, class and graduation year?
My major is dance, and my expected graduation date is May 2017.
What is your Hometown?
My hometown is Hagerstown, MD.
Tell us about your favorite class, extracurricular activity, academic opportunity, community involvement or another unique experience.
I was on DyNaMic Dance Troupe for a semester... that helped me as a transfer student to find myself in a community. I have been able to perform, and I am also in four shows this semester. All of my classes are my favorite!! I learn something new and valuable every single day.
