SCHOLAR RESPONSES:
What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
My scholarship has relieved financial pressure for me and my family. It has allowed me to pursue an unpaid internship this semester instead of working a part-time job. I hope that this experience will lead me into my first paid technical position before graduation, further allowing me to self-finance my education.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
I chose to attend the university because of the academic rigor that exists within the engineering and computer science disciplines. In addition, I felt very at home on the campus and found the students to be very kind and welcoming as I was touring the campus. I take pride in giving this same welcome to students touring campus, and always shout "Go Terps!" when I walk past a group of touring students.
What is your major, minor, class and graduation year?
I am studying computer engineering and am expecting to graduate in May, 2019.
Tell us about your favorite class, extracurricular activity, academic opportunity, community involvement or another unique experience.
My favorite class at UMD is a class I'm currently enrolled in--Digital Logic Design (ENEE 244). I have loved programming for years now, and I find learning about the most basic principles of computing to be very interesting. |
