4 SCHOLARSHIPs AWARDED:
What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
My scholarship has allowed me to focus on doing my best academically and to take advantage of unpaid opportunities without worrying about how to finance my education. This past school year, I chose to complete and defend an honors thesis in the Department of Government & Politics. Because of the scholarship, I was able to dedicate much of my time to my thesis rather than working. I received High Honors on the thesis. Two summers ago, I was able to conduct a political science research project with a faculty mentor on a scholarship, and I had the privilege of not having to find another job on top of my research. I am very grateful that the scholarship has enabled me to pursue more educational and professional opportunities that will further my interest in a public policy career than I would have been able to without financial support.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
After graduation, I will work at the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve as a research assistant in the International Finance division. The position combines my interest in making sense of data and applying it to policy issues, and my interest in public service. As a research assistant, I will play a small role in furthering the Board's mission of promoting a healthy economy by analyzing the state of international markets. In the future, I hope to continue on a career path that will allow me to use data science to address social and economic issues and test potential solutions.
