What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
It has been a dream come true to attend the University of Maryland College Park. I never thought I would have this experience. It brings much pride to my family and myself in achieving the goal of a degree. I am able to show my son that I completed school and leave him and others with no excuse.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
The University of Maryland College Park has always had an impressive reputation in the community as an great university. I did not imagine I would be attending the University of Maryland College Park. I am aware that jobseekers embrace University of Maryland graduates as capable. As a student I am very impressed with The University of Maryland College Park believing it to be and outstanding University.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
It is my hope that my Family Science degree allows me to economically, socially, and psychologically strengthen the family. I have an background in property management. I hope to create housing or communities that are geared towards the goal of improving the family and making is more self sufficient, healthy, and stronger.

I am an Junior with an expected graduation date of December 2016

My middle school and high school years were in Washington DC.
Tell us about your favorite class, extracurricular activity, academic opportunity, community involvement or another unique experience.
I chose the major of Family Science to impact the world along with my family. I have been married for 13 years. In addition I have an 3 year old son. I could not be more excited for the opportunity to apply what I learn to my family and the world.
