What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
This scholarship has enabled me to fund my education without the help of my parents. So far, I have not been forced to ask for financial assistance from my parents, relieving them of the burden of paying for my college education. This scholarship has offered me an opportunity to learn how to independently budget and manage my finances.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
I chose to attend the University of Maryland because of it's prime location. It is within driving distance of my home, so I can keep the same job. In addition, it is close to Washington, DC, and because I am interested in Agriculture Policy, it seemed appropriate to apply. The University offered the major I wanted, and the atmosphere I needed.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
I will make a positive difference in the world by leading by example. I have a passion to mentor today's youth and hope that I can inspire others by modeling a positive outlook on life.
