What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
My scholarship has enabled me to take full advantage of all the opportunities that the University of Maryland has to offer. As a Banneker-Key Scholarship recipient, I have been able to both live and work on-campus, as well as participate in numerous extracurricular activities. In particular, I met people from countless different backgrounds and lifestyles, which has broadened my perspectives on what the world is really like. In short, I am eternally grateful.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
Maryland has been in my family for generations, and I grew up just knowing I would come here. Maryland is everything I always wanted in a college: spacious, diverse, and loaded with new things to see and try. It's close enough to home that I can still visit my family, but big enough that I never run out of activities to keep me busy!
