What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
I worked for 2 years on the executive board of the College Park Scholars Science, Technology, and Society program.
What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
My scholarship has enabled me to afford a living space near campus that provides a quiet, scholarly atmosphere so that I can make the most of my career here. I have found that the financial burden on myself and my family is decreased, which is enabling me to focus on what I am here to do at the University. I appreciate the funds that have been provided, because much of my academic achievement falls on the ability to maintain financial strength.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
The high quality of education here was most important, while the financial advantages of being close to home were crucial in my decision as well.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
I want to further space exploration in such a way that we might gain more knowledge about ourselves and our planet, including our history and our origins. Space travel connects us all, as people across all borders find fascination with the stars and the universe beyond Earth. I will one day contribute to the exploration of space in order to help inspire future pioneers and carry on the traditions of human voyagers.
