What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
In the past, I have taken up many leadership roles for many different organizations and student clubs, such as the MSA, CVC, Broadcast club, Newspaper Club, Rotaract Club, and some others. As for now, I am involved in a few different organizations, but I have not pursued the leadership role due to the fact that I am new to the college environment and I want to set my grounds first. For volunteer work, I currently volunteer at the mosque in a few aspects, about 15 hours a week.
What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
My scholarship means a lot to me because if it wasn't for my scholarship, I wouldn't be at UMD right now, because my parents would not be able to afford it. For me, every little bit counts and enables me to further enhance my education. Not having to worry about tuition as a major problem because of my scholarship, I am able to concentrate more on my school work and do what I need to get done. It also brings joy and an ease to my parents, because it allows me to go to university without paying so much.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
I chose to attend UM because I received a scholarship here and because it is one of the top universities around the nation. UM is in close perspective to my house and it is not as expensive as other schools. UM has one of the best programs in many areas of study, and I chose to take advantage of that.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
By becoming a dentist, I can help people become satisfied with their oral presentation, and help them just other Dentists have helped me.
