What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?

What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
By helping me finance a portion of my education here at the University of Maryland, this scholarship has helped enable me to take advantage of the numerous opportunities this university has to offer beyond classes, such as internships and organizations like campus newspapers.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
While the University of Maryland's top-notch journalist program is what initially drove me to look at this school, after visiting, I fell in love with the campus and the faculty. I attended a number of informational settings and student panels and found nothing but smiling, friendly people who were always willing to take time out to speak to me personally about the program and the university. Additionally, I knew the University's proximity to the nation's capital would be indispensable in maximizing my undergraduate experience, both from a journalistic as well as governmental point of view. As I walked around the campus during the first few weeks of my first year, I was convinced that I had made the right choice. The stately oak trees and the old brick buildings flanked by pillars gave me the college environment I always dreamed of.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
I truly believe I will help make a difference in this world because I am cultivating the tools necessary to do so my years here at the University. I am a passionate, driven, hard-working individual who will stop at nothing to accomplish my goals. Through the combination of my journalism and government skills, I hope to influence U.S foreign policy through public affairs and public diplomacy, subsequently helping the United States work to make this world a better place for every person to live in.
