What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
I have volunteered in the past to help maintain a local municipal golf course in my home town of Hagerstown, MD. And in the future, as I mentioned before, I want to be a great deal of help to any and all of the children with whom I come into reach.
What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
My scholarship reduced the financial burden of college costs for both me and my family. Now I am able to reasonably afford a great education in Turf and Golf Course Mangagement.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
UM was my number one choice because it is close to home, the Plant Science professors are amazing, and the experience of a large University is something that I personally needed to experience in order to expand my horizons.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
I want to give back to the golfing community, which has, up until this past year, given me so many opportunities. Along with managing a world-class course of my own, I would want to make a difference in as many childrens' lives as possible by exposing them to the rewarding game of golf. It teaches important life values and lessons and also keeps them on the right track in life. The competition is challenging yet very enjoyable, as you are able to make so many friends in just a short period of time. The benefits of playing golf by far outweigh the downfalls.
