3 SCHOLARSHIPs AWARDED:
What leadership roles or volunteer experiences have been important to you during your time at Maryland?
Since I commute two hours away from home for school due to personal reasons, I have not really had the time to volunteer. However, I am sure it is wonderful here at UMD.
What has your scholarship meant to you and how has it enabled you to pursue new and exciting opportunities?
My scholarship allows me to continue learning all that I can in order to become an effective teacher in society. It allows me to continue receiving the best resources and gain lessons from professors who share the same passion.
Why did you choose to attend the University of Maryland, what makes this place special to you and what is your favorite part of being a Terp?
University of Maryland, College Park, especially the College of Education, is a place filled with many opportunities and people who are always genuinely wanting the best for you. It becomes less about teaching just for the sake of teaching and more about sharing the same passion.
How will you make a positive difference in the world?
Instead of focusing on the future and what I will do in order to make a positive difference in the world, I believe it starts now simply by being kind and giving to others, regardless of how others treat you.
What is your major, minor, class and graduation year?
I am currently a junior, majoring in Special Education and plan to graduate Spring 2018.
What is your Hometown?
My hometown is Rising Sun, Maryland.
Tell us about your favorite class, extracurricular activity, academic opportunity, community involvement or another unique experience.
More than a specific class, I genuinely love the Special Education program. I will say it over and over again, but it is filled with people who genuinely want the best for you and for the future generations. The classes are all small, so it becomes more of a community of learners.
