Scholarship History

J. David and Jacqueline Porthouse and friends established the Dr. Mabel S. Spencer Award for Excellence in Graduate Achievement in April 1973 to award outstanding doctoral students who have demonstrated academic excellence and the potential to make a contribution in their field of study. This fund honors the former distinguished professor in the College of Education.
