Roger and Alicia Betancourt Fellowship in Applied Economics

Scholarship History

Former doctoral students of Roger Betancourt created the Roger and Alicia Betancourt Fellowship in Applied Economics in November 2006 to support a doctoral fellowship in applied economics in the Department of Economics in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences. This fund honors Betancourt's scholarly guidance, academic mentoring, professional assistance and his wife's support.

Donor Statement

For more than three decades, Professor Roger Betancourt has assisted doctoral candidates at the University of Maryland through his service as their dissertation advisor or dissertation committee member. In recognition of his scholarly guidance, academic mentoring, professional assistance and his wife's support, his former doctoral students established an endowed fund to support a doctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland, College Park.
