Dr. Stanford A. Lavine Scholarship

Scholarship History

Marcia Lavine established the Dr. Stanford A. Lavine Scholarship in February 1998 to support varsity student athletes who intend to pursue careers in medicine. This fund honors the memory of her husband who served as team physician for the University of Maryland for 26 years, for the Washington Redskins from 1976-85 and the Washington Bullets from 1979-81. A 1950 graduate, Lavine was quarterback for the football team at the 1950 Gator Bowl championship.

Donor Statement

This scholarship is named in memory of Dr. Stanford Lavine, who served as team physician for the University of Maryland for twenty-six years and for the Washington Redskins from 1976-85 and the Washington Bullets from 1979-81. A 1950 graduate, Lavine quarterbacked the football team to the 1950 Gator Bowl championship. This scholarship is awarded to a varsity student athlete who intends to pursue a career in medicine.
