Art Brodsky '73 and Jill Lewis established the B. Parker Hamilton Libraries of the Future Scholarship in August 2017 to support merit-based scholarships for graduate students as they enter the Master of Library and Information Science degree program. As libraries serve many different populations with a wide range of information and other needs, the field must produce MLIS graduates prepared to champion diversity and promote inclusion and equity in the communities that they serve.
Parker Hamilton retired as director of Montgomery County Public Libraries after an extraordinary 36 year career that established MCPL as one of the nation's leading public libraries. This fund was established in her honor.
