David and Julia Semer Endowed Scholarship

Scholarship History

Dr. Nadine Semer '82 (biochemistry) established the David and Julia Semer Endowed Scholarship in honor of her parents in July 2016. The fund will support scholarships for first-generation undergraduate students who are in the University's Incentive Awards Program. Dr. Semer graduated from University of Maryland, College Park in 1982 with a degree in Biochemistry and later earned her medical degree in 1986 from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore. Dr. Semer spent 15 years doing reconstructive plastic surgery in Los Angeles before working in undeserved areas of the world, taking her to rural South Africa, Thailand, Haiti and the Democratic Republic of Congo.
