John Glaab received his bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering in 1973 and a master's degree in engineering administration from George Washington University. Prior to earning his degrees, John served in the U.S. Army. He later worked at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. John continued to work at NASA for more than four decades after graduation. Christine Glaab received her bachelor of science degree in sociology and her M.L.S. from the University of Maryland in 1975. She spent the majority of her career as a law librarian working for three large Washington, D.C. firms: Morgan Lewis & Bochius, Fulbright & Jaworsky and Kaye Scholer. She then completed her professional career as head librarian for the U.S. Government Surface Transportation Board.
Christine's passion was books. She was a regular volunteer for the Montgomery County Library System and was active in providing books and supplies and thousands of books to the school and county library system. Christine also served as a board member of the Appalachian Forest Heritage Area, an organization that promotes the history and heritage tourism of the area of Eastern West Virginia.
In memory of Christine's passion for libraries, reading and education, as well as her dedicated service to the field of law librarianship, the Christine Glaab Law Librarian Fellowship is established to encourage future professionals to enter this field and assist them in pursuit of their M.L.S. degree at the University of Maryland.
