The Levin family, friends and colleagues, including those in the Urban Studies and Planning Program, established the Melvin R. Endowed Planning Leadership Fund in May 2000 to support activities that promote leadership abilities among students. This fund commemorates Dr. Levin's numerous contributions to the study and practice of city planning and his leadership in the planning field.
Dr. Melvin R. Levin made numerous contributions to the study and practice of city planning. He served as chair of planning programs at Boston University, Rutgers and the University of Maryland at Baltimore and was president of the American Institute of Certified Planners from 1986 to 1988. To commemorate these contributions and his leadership in the planning field, the Levin Family and the Urban Studies and Planning Program at the University of Maryland, College Park established, through the University of Maryland Foundation, Inc., the Melvin R. Levin Planning Leadership Fund.
