In loving memory of their husband and father, Shirley N. Willcher and her sons established the Ernest M. Willcher Veterans Scholarship in December 2007 to support students who are veterans with financial need. Ernie was attending a meeting at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001, when he perished in the tragic events of that day.
Ernest M. Willcher served in the U.S. Army for four years and spent 36 years working for the Army as a civilian employee. He was attending a meeting at the Pentagon on Sept. 11, 2001 when he perished in the tragic events of the day. Ernie was dedicated to education and earned a B.S. from the University of Maryland and a degree from the Washington College of Law. He was the proud father of two sons who also graduated from the University of Maryland.
